Life Casting is the process of making a mold of a living subject, either the whole body or just parts, and creating an identical sculpture (casting) from the mold. Our finished sculptures are exactly the same size, shape and detail of the person cast.
Life Casting is a 3 step process:
1) Making the mold. In our studio this step takes about 30 seconds.2) Filling the mold with a castable material. We use stone, concrete, resin or glass depending on the finished product.
3) Removing the cured casting from the mold and detailing it to a high-quality finished product.
History of Lifecasting
Life Casting or Body Casting is an ancient artform. Our earliest records dated back to the Egyptians, who made face castings of the dead to help them be identified when they reached the next world.Life Casting has recently become a very popular form of sculpture-making due to the intimate and personal nature of the finished products.
Safety First!
Our studio safety policy is simple:If I won't put it in my mouth, your child can't have it.
